*UPDATE – July 12, 2021*

Volunteers for Community Impact (VCI) continues to work with partners to provide the safest environment for our volunteers and those they serve. We look forward to providing schools and Head Starts in Central Florida this Fall with volunteers from our AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program, AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Program, OTTER Program, GOAL Program, and My Brother’s Keeper Program. We are gradually transitioning back to in-person volunteering as well as keeping remote volunteering an option for our programs. In doing so, we can provide an even greater impact to Central Florida and increasing volunteer opportunities to adults 18+ in some of our programs.

We have updated all of our program pages with the most up-to-date opportunities and information with regards to COVID-19 and will continue to update them with the most updated information we have. Check back and visit our program pages to find your next volunteer opportunity!

**PREVIOUS STATEMENT March 16, 2020**

Effective March 16, 2020 Volunteers for Community Impact (VCI) is temporarily suspending programmatic operations which engage Foster Grandparent (FGP) Volunteers.  VCI is also reducing and limiting operations which engage RSVP volunteers.

VCI values and appreciates all of the senior citizens who serve in our FGP program providing one-on-one mentoring and tutoring to at-risk children in our community. VCI acknowledges the impact that our volunteers make in the lives of underserved children by providing them with attention and support for their academic success.  However, as COVID-19 continues to spread, we have decided that the safety and well-being of our volunteers is our utmost priority. Therefore, we have decided to suspend FGP operations until further notice.  Our FGP volunteers are being advised to stay home and follow the CDC safety protocols. Foster Grandparents will be placed on paid leave until May 22, 2020.  We regret any disruption this may cause.

VCI is also reducing operations for our RSVP program.  Events involving large public gatherings are being temporarily suspended until March 31, 2020.  RSVP volunteers are being directed to follow the guidance and directives of their specific volunteer station, and to contact their RSVP Program Coordinator for specific guidance.

VCI program coordinators will be reaching out to individual partners and organizations to specifically answer any questions or concerns.  VCI will close our main office through March 29, 2020 and employees will telework. Partners will still be able to reach our team through email and telephone during this period.
