STORYTELLERS NEEDED!
Virtual History Storyteller (must be 55 or older)
StoryCorps is a non-profit with a platform to help people preserve stories and personal history for all to enjoy and learn from. Volunteers for Community Impact is looking for Virtual Storytellers who want to share such a story. The story will be audio recorded and facilitated by an interviewer who will ask questions to help guide the conversation.
Prior to the recording, storytellers will review informational power points, review the questions to be asked and have a brief phone introduction with the interviewer.
Stories can cover any range of topics. Here are examples of topics we wanted to cover: the Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam War, life lessons learned through the current pandemic, hurricane preparation. We would love stories specific to Seminole County to show how the county took shape, where we are now and what the future may hold. Do you have another idea? Let us know!
In order for stories to be captured, the storyteller needs a computer with a microphone and an e-mail address, that’s all! If the computer doesn’t have a microphone, one can be checked out from the Volunteers for Community Impact Satellite Office in Sanford.
Volunteers can tell one or more stories. Each story will be a separate recording. Storytellers must be enrolled under the RSVP program, live in Seminole County in Florida, willing to create an account on StoryCorps and be 55 or older. Once enrolled, all questions can be directed to your RSVP Coordinator.
