AmeriCorps Seniors
What is AmeriCorps Seniors?
AmeriCorps Seniors is a network of volunteer programs for Americans aged 55 and older, designed to connect them with local opportunities to serve their communities. The programs offer diverse ways for seniors to volunteer, such as mentoring children, providing companionship to the elderly, assisting with disaster relief, and supporting community organizations, all while offering benefits like training and supplemental insurance. The three core programs within AmeriCorps Seniors are the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Senior Companion Program (SCP), and the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP).
What are the different AmeriCorps Seniors programs?
Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP): Matches individuals with a variety of volunteer roles, allowing them to choose how and when they serve, from tutoring children to helping with disaster services.
Senior Companion Program (SCP): Volunteers provide companionship and assistance to other seniors, helping them maintain independence and reduce social isolation.
Foster Grandparent Program (FGP): Volunteers use their wisdom and compassion to mentor and support children and youth, often through tutoring and positive role modeling.
