AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers age 55+ mentor at-risk children in Orlando-area schools
and early education centers — and earn a tax-free stipend for their service.

AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparents Volunteers serve 15 to 40 hours a week in locations such as schools, Boys and Girls Clubs, daycare centers, Head Start centers, or virtually from home. Each volunteer completes a pre-service orientation and training. Once volunteers are approved and meet certain income guidelines, they will also receive a small stipend for the time they volunteer. Begin making your impact on Central Florida’s children by filling out this simple volunteer form. Then, together, you and your volunteer coordinator will determine your eligibility for the program and they will answer your questions after reviewing your volunteer form.

A: You must be 55 years of age or older to volunteer with VCI’s AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program.
A: Eligible volunteers receive a non-taxable hourly stipend plus mileage reimbursement. Supplemental insurance is also provided at no cost to the volunteer.
A: Foster Grandparent volunteers serve between 15 and 40 hours per week at local schools, Head Start centers, Boys & Girls Clubs, and daycare centers in Central Florida.
A: VCI places Foster Grandparent volunteers in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, and Volusia counties at schools and early education centers throughout the region.
